LeedsMetUni writes --> Fresh from the weekend's successes in the BUCS Championships, the University's athletes have been back in action.
The afternoon's action got off to a flying start, with a 102-0 victory by a dominant Women's Rugby team against St Andrews.
The Women's Football team are through to the final of the BUCS Championships. They will face Northumbria after defeating the University of Wales Institute (UWIC) 3-1 in London.
The championships, held in Sheffield, were a time of stellar success for Leeds Met, as the university scooped seven national team championships covering a range of sports such as badminton, football, indoor cricket, volleyball and squash.
The Men's Volleyball cemented their position as the best student team in the country after an emphatic victory at the BUCS finals. Their victory over arch-rivals Sheffield Hallam saw them become only the third team in history to win both the Student Cup and BUCS Championship in the same season.
The Men's Badminton 2nd and 3rd teams won against York and Teeside, and it was a tale of success as well for the Men's Hockey 2nd and 3rd teams, as they vanquished Northumbria and Sheffield.
Leeds Met's Women's Tennis team won their League 2b. They are undefeated all season after winning nine and drawing one fixture. They will play in the Conference Cup final on Wednesday March 25 at Liverpool.
The Men's 3rd team won their league 3b yesterday, and this year the Men's 2nd team have also won the North 1A league, undefeated.
