Over the years, the competition has grown into an opportunity for diverse communities to learn the art of Bhangra, Gidha and the Dhol. Bhangra Nation gives South Asians and other ethnic community members a forum to celebrate together the winners' and participants' glory and achievements. The competition is a traditional & educational venue as the competition was first created 11 years ago in honour of the harvest festival, Baisakhi in Punjab, India. Overtime Bhangra, the harvest dance from Punjab has become known all over the western world in both South Asian communities and mainstream culture. The Bhangra Nation team is committed to creating awareness of Bhangra and the Punjabi culture within Canada and around the world. Bhangra Nation achieves this through the creation of a strong foundation that allows teams from around the world an opportunity to display their talent, skill and passion for one of the most significant traditions of the Punjabi culture, Bhangra.
