I work as a volunteer for 11 years in a shelter in my city in the very south of Brazil, we care for almost 2 thousand cats and dogs that are waiting for a new owner... some of them die waiting for years... I have 7 dogs, they were all adopted by me and my family!!!

The reason there are so many animals in shelters is due to irresponsible people who don't spay/neuter their pets then dump them when they become an inconvenience.
