Good music is supposed to give people a feeling and if people feel good listening to a great band play three chords then why should the writers or the listeners be idiots. It doesn't mean they're not musically intelligent or diverse it means they know what makes a great song and they do it. Good music doesn't need to have a symphony orchestra and a million chords and 4 modulations with 40 guitar solos to make it great
