Within days of the Mumbai-based, Dr Nishita Sheth’s Cosmetology Clinic (DNCC) announcing their “Macrolane-based, non surgical, non invasive, walk in-walk out instant bust enhancement”, several Bollywood celebrities and models have made a beeline for the treatment.
“While Bollywood stars, wannabe starlets and aspiring models are known to have a fascination for ‘bust enhancement’, the response is very good,” says Dr Nishita Sheth, declining to give any names, in spite of our persistent demand. “Medical ethics prohibits me from mentioning any names, but I can say that a couple of big stars and several aspiring models and actresses have consulted me in the last week after we announced the ‘instant’ method.” She added that her assistants have registered about 50 telephonic enquiries and about 20 consultations.
However a source at DNCC revealed that a well-known actress who has recently worked with an award winning director as well two beauty queens have shown serious interest in the procedure.
Dr Nishita Sheth is already the personal cosmetic expert to several Bollywood stars and though will not speak on record, sources said that two former Miss India World/Universe are her regular clients as is a well-known male actor who has a great female fan following. She is the Cosmetology Consultant and Expert to the Ms Bikini India-Worldwide contest which will be held in August 2009 as well as the Purple Fire Films Actor-Model Talent Hunt Contest.
Explaining the instant method that has caught the fancy of many in Bollywood, Dr Nishita Sheth said, “The procedure is very simple and normally should not take more than one hour. After consultation - once the doctor and patient have decided on the desired shape, size and volume of the bust - a local anesthetic is administered. Then a gel-like filler substance called Macrolane is injected deep into the breast tissue. As the Macrolane is injected, the plastic surgeon manipulates the breast, so that the fluid fills to create the best possible and desired shape.” Other fillers like Restylane or the popular Botox are used for facial injections and vary in terms of their thickness and viscosity.
For the first time in India, DNCC recently announced the ‘instant’ Macrolane-based bust enhancement technique. “No other clinic, hospital or plastic surgeon has yet officially claimed to offer this technique or treatment in India,” admitted Dr Nishita Sheth, adding that the DNCC is the first to do so.
However, this technique has been around for some time in the West and is now an accepted method in developed nations like the US, UK, Ireland and most of Europe including Japan and Sweden.
One of the models we spoke to Madhu S (name changed partially to conceal her identity) who has done a few print ads, serials and small-time movies said that she was keen on going in for an enhancement. “I contacted Dr Nishita when I heard that there was an ‘instant, walk in-walk out’ method available.
Another regional actress Saniyaa Gir and Dr Nishita's regular client said that she enquired about the method but doesn't intend to under go the treatment immediately. "I have a normal figure and didn’t find the need for an immediate enhancement, but the 'instant ness' of the procedure intrigued me," said Saniyaa.
Bust enhancement has picked up in the country and women even in small towns have been opting for silicone implants. In most cases, their families and at times even husbands are unaware of the same and get to know only much later. Unfortunately, even some teenagers and girls as young as 15 years have gone in for silicone implants that according to Dr Nishita Sheth is a very unhealthy practice.
