Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowdaaliyas NEDDE GOWDA (born 18 May 1933) was the 14th Prime Minister of the Republic of India (1996–1997) and the 14th chief minister of the state of Karnataka (1994–1996). Born into a farming family, he won his first seat in the Karnataka state assembly in 1962, rising to become Karnataka's chief minister.

Er wurde in der Folgezeit mehrfach wiedergewählt und leitete ab 1977 die Aufgabenbereiche Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Landbewässerung. Er schied 1982 aus dem Kabinett aus, nachdem ihm eine Mittelerhöhung für den Bereich Bewässerung verwehrt worden war. 1991 wurde Deve Gowda in die Lok Sabha gewählt. Ab 1994 leitete er die Partei Janata Dal und wurde im selben Jahr Chief Minister von Karnataka. Als 1996 bei den Parlamentswahlen keine Partei eine klare Mehrheit stellen konnte, wurde Deve Gowda von einer Koalition mehrerer Parteien als überraschender Kompromisskandidat zum Premierminister. Prior to his presidency, Dr. Sharma had been the 8th Vice President of India under President Ramaswamy Venkatraman. Khalish Dehlavi, whose real name is Krishan Bhayana, is a well known Urdu poet of India. He was born in 1935 in the state of Punjab, India. He graduated from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (Indore University) with a degree in civil engineering, but prior to that he obtained his first degree from Aligarh Muslim University. His late father Shri Mohan Lal Bhayana, an Urdu scholar himself, advised him to study Urdu literature. After joining Aligarh Muslim University, he mastered the Urdu language and Urdu literature and poetry. He became deeply involved in Urdu poetry and actively participated in Mushairas. He adopted the pen name “Khalish” and came to be known popularly as “Khalish Dehlavi”. He has written for almost all Urdu literary magazines of the India including such names as “Biswin Sadi”. He also has many Hindi publications to his credit. Khalish Dehlavi has been writing for the last fifty years and has now occupied an honourable position in Urdu and Hindi literature. He has received many awards and citations from eminent personalities like the former President of India Dr. Zakir Hussain, Shri Inder Kumar Gujral, the former Prime Minister of India, along with established scholars, poets, editors and music personalities with such names as Padmashree Saghar Nizami, Jan Nisar Akhtar, Makhmoor Sayeedi, Rehman Nayyar, and Naushad.
