A BOLLYWOOD actress has received death threats in Pakistan after reportedly filming a kissing scene.
Star Meera said she has been targeted by "extremist elements" though she claimed she has done nothing to be ashamed of in the film.
Kissing is not usually shown in Bollywood movies.
"I want protection. I want protection for me, my family. I want President Pervez Musharraf to ensure the safety of my family," she said.
The young actress has faced a media onslaught in Pakistan for the supposed screen kiss, with government officials even quoted as saying they could impose a hefty fine on her.
Meera, 27, said unidentified people had threatened her family and accused her of performing an "obscene" act.
She was working on the project, called Nazar, or Sight, in Mumbai in the first ever co-production between the movie industries of India and Pakistan.
