She known as the Pardesiya girl, and she’s bagging item
numbers in more films than you can count on your two fingers. While some
actresses hate being termed an item girl, Rakhi Sawant is proud of it. We catch up with
the actress for a no-bolds-bar(r)ed interview...
Most actresses today are ashamed of being called
‘item girls’. Are you one of them?
“Why should I be ashamed of being called an item girl? Do you know what is the meaning of being called an item girl? It means you are beautiful, you have a great figure and you are a fabulous dancer. So I am proud to be called an item girl.”

“You need guts to be called an item girl. Everyone cannot do it. Speaking of which, even Binduji and Helenji were item girls in the past, and they were proud of it. Also, if doing item numbers makes you an item girl, even Aishwarya Rai is an item girl. Hasn’t she done the Kajrare kajrare song in Bunty Aur Babli ?”

To what would you attribute your popularity –
your sex appeal or your talent as an actress?
“I would attribute my success to both my sex appeal as well as my talent. Without sex appeal there is no talent and without talent there is no sex appeal. To be a complete item girl, you need a great body, good looks as well as talent.”

Rumour has it that you are willing to shed
clothes like never before on screen. How far is this true?
“Why not? I am very comfortable with my body. If I have no problems shedding clothes, why should anybody else have a problem with that? It’s my body and I love to show it. If God has given me a perfect body – 36-26-36, why shouldn’t I flaunt it? Even my parents don’t have a problem. People love everything about me – my body, my face, my dance. I get so many calls daily, saying you are mind blowing, so it only makes be proud.”

“Since the matter has been settled, and I have already got my visa, I would rather not talk about the incident.”

Is it true that you walk bare-feet to Siddhi
Vinayak temple every week?
“Even with a good body, a good face, and talent, you still need luck and God’s blessings. So that is the reason I go to Siddhi Vinayak temple every week. Unfortunately, I cannot walk it up to the temple nowadays because people recognize me instantly. So I go by car. But I will definitely walk it up soon, maybe early in the morning or late at night when there is no one around on the roads.”
